The Project is at full throttle right now. The rest of suspension parts have arrived – uprights, hubs, rockers. It was all milled out of aluminum blocks. The new design comparing to last year is almost half the weight. We have also got the Quaife differential to our worshop – it is a limited slip differential widely used in Formula Student projects. It was used it our previous cars and it has proven it’s high performance and reliability.
It may seem that we got a lot parts but nothing to attach it to. But it changed – the chassis is being welded and it is going pretty fast. The engine team is performing tests on the engine from our previous car – Viking 1.
They are testing the modified oil pan system – it will allow us to lower the engine in the chassis, therefore lower the center of gravity of the car. During that test new Yoshimura RS-5 muffler is also strapped on, to check if the car will exceed the noise limit.
